Police Chief News
Following a national search, recommendation by City Administrator Kelly Hayworth, and unanimous City Council approval, Shane Kron was appointed and sworn in as Chief of Police on February 14, 2017.
Kron joined the Coralville Police Department as an Officer in 1990, and has served as Patrol Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, Administrative Lieutenant, and Interim Chief of Police. He earned an MS in criminal justice administration from Columbia Southern University and a BS in public administration from Upper Iowa University. Kron replaced Barry Bedford, who retired as Chief of Police on January 31.
The Coralville Police Department serves a population of over 19,500 residents and shares borders with Iowa City, North Liberty, and Tiffin.

The Coralville Police Department has 34 full-time officers, one full-time community service officer, one part-time animal control officer, and five civilian staff who provide public safety services to the citizens of Coralville.
